From Dallas to D.C., it seems like the whole country is under a pile of snow this week. (The only three snowless states today? Florida, Hawaii, and Louisiana!)
So in the interest of keeping warm while looking good, we recommend this sexy and snuggly wrap top by Etsy seller Shihar.
Hand-sewn in Israel, this close-fitting top is customizable by virtue of the long panels you can wrap around your body to emphasize your waist (or create curves if you want some).
And plus-size gals, take heart: The body-conscious top comes in sizes up to 2XL, with options for short, mid-length, or long sleeves and in five different colors.
It’s truly one-shirt-flatters-all!
Shihar Snuggle Up Top Wrap Around Shirt, $85 at Etsy.com.

It’s pouring rain in L.A. today and I could really use a pick-me-up to get me in the mood for the weekend. My top contender is this pair of goldtone pyramid stud earrings by Etsy seller BRadleyBB.
I really like how they’re softer than hard-edged pyramid studs, and edgier than too-basic gold posts, like the kind they pierce ears with. And best of all, they’re made from upcycled buttons from a vintage shirt (hence the speckled look of wear).
Oh yeah, and they cost less than a panini. Also available in silver if yellow gold isn’t your thing.
BRadleyBB Zone Stud Earrings in Gold, $5 at Etsy.com.
It’s been a while since we did a Friday Etsy Find, but this week’s pick is so great you’ll forgive the delay.
If you’re constantly trying to stay organized — and let’s face it, who isn’t? — you’ll discover the In Touch Clutch by Etsy seller DownstairsDesigns fills a black hole in your life. This multipocket organizer has space for everything you might need on the go, whether it’s a notebook and crayons to keep your kids occupied or your passport and boarding pass when you’re leaving for the airport.
The clutch folds up flat and stays shut courtesy of faux pearl snaps to keep everything secure. It comes in 600 different designs that you can custom order to pair with a sturdy and utilitarian unbleached linen.
We seriously might need two or three to keep everything we need at the ready.

If you are a 20s or 30s woman with limited closet space and a bad habit of sentimentality past all reason, chances are good you are storing at least one bridesmaid dress that you’ve worn once and only once. An enterprising Minneapolis designer has a solution for you: Angie Arner is collecting bridesmaid dresses and putting a fresh spin on them in her new upcycled line, CounterCouture.
As we’ve explored before, bridesmaid dresses one of the most common offenders of the unfortunate wear-once garment. In the interest of breathing new life into that wasteland of periwinkle-blue satin, sent it Arner’s way for some serious glamming up.
Arner says:
“One day I looked in my closet at the collection of these sad dresses pushed to the very back and I started brainstorming about their potential,” she wrote in a statement about her new brand. “I knew so many women could relate to this. So many, in fact, that there could be a market in turning them into new fashion. It’s problem-solving with a very sexy package.”
The full collection of custom dresses will be presented in April during Spring MNfashion Week, and she will soon be selling on Etsy.com. Prices range from $175 to $250 — probably not much more than what you paid for the dress in the first place. We love the look of the one at right, and this online gallery shows there’s a lot of room for creativity in satin. Who knew?

The sales this Christmas season are off the chain, aren’t they? And not just in the mall, either. We’re spending the afternoon virtually rummaging through the spectacular She’s Fancy shop on Etsy, where all vintage accessories are buy two get one free!
The hardest part is limiting ourselves. The shop stocks one-of-a-kind vintage treasures like this faux fur coat, elegant 1940s enamel and glass earrings, scalloped-edge pumps circa 1980, an origami pleated leather clutch, and a hundred other solutions to your “what do I wear to the holiday party?” dilemma.
She’s Fancy Vintage ’80s Clutch, $14 at Etsy.com.

This season is all about the feminine touches — ruffles, ribbons, and draping abound. And nothing ties the look together better than an Edwardian-era cameo pin.
This antique peaches-and-cream brooch is our pick of the week. Dating back to the early 1900s, the cameo is made from hand-carved conch shell set in milgrained sterling silver.
We would love to wear it as a complement to a romantic date-night look — perhaps to secure a headscarf — or to soften a combination of skinny jeans and a leather jacket.
If you like antique jewelry, seller Rage of the Age has quite a collection up for sale!

One of the freshest trends to catch our eye recently is the knit beret. It sounds so out there but it looks amazingly cool with jeans and a boyfriend blazer. Or get cozy by the fireplace wearing it with a cocoon sweater and cords.
Sure, you could pick up a version from Topshop or Forever 21, but there’s no guarantee the hat hasn’t been made in sweatshops. There are plenty of stylish handmade or otherwise eco options — check out what we’ve found:
- Unbleached linen with a smattering of sparkle. SpinningStreak’s Big Hair Hat, $28 at Etsy.
- Channel your inner Parisian with this vintage red-and-blue pick from the 1960s. Basque Deluxe Beret, $22 at FancyDisaster.com.
- This cable knit goes from ski lodge to street in an instant. Beaumont Organic Chunky Cable Hat, £30 ($49.79 in USD) at Fashion-Conscience.com.
- Warm fleece lining and sequins mean function has officially met form. EmeraldAngel’s Sequin Berets in three colors, $23.99 at Etsy.com.
- Say yes to chunky knits with this hand-crocheted design. Nixon “Joyride” Hand Knit Beret, $22 at Karmaloop.com.

We have a great contender for the November edition of E.S. Eco-Over! If you’re new to this feature, we take a hot trend and find a stylish equivalent from an ethical source — and try to save you some dough in the process.
J.Crew hit a home run with its ubiquitous bubble necklaces this year. This statement bib packs a powerful punch against a little black dress or a strapless gown. But at $150 for plastic beads, we knew we could find something similar (and preferably vintage) on Etsy.
That’s where seller BasilTheCat delivered with her lovely made-to-order version crafted from ivory cabochons she unearths at estate sales and flea markets. (The necklace is also offered in a turquoise color.) She then sets the beads in antique brass on a gold-plated chain for less than a third of the price of J.Crew.
With 1,300 satisfied customers and growing, BasilTheCat is where it’s at for this trend with a handmade spin.
J.Crew Bubble Necklace, $150 at JCrew.com, versus BasilTheCat Tiered Bubble Necklace, $45 at Etsy.com.
It’s the birthday of our friend Erin at Haute Hardware and what she’s wearing so perfectly fits with our ideals here at E.S., we had to share it!
Her top is by Miley Cyrus for Wal-Mart — you may remember from E.S. #20 that the teen singing sensation is trying her hand at fashion design. This ruffled top is pretty adorable, we have to say!
And Erin paired it with a well-loved Tahari black skirt that she is thinking about having tailored (smart girl!) after losing weight this summer.
The bag she’s carrying is made from vintage repurposed leather by Hoakon/Helga for Etsy. Pretty darn cute.
And you probably noticed the shoes. (How could you not?) Those futuristic silver cage sandals are new for fall by Yves Saint Laurent. A pretty sweet birthday present from Erin’s fiancé, she is stoked to add them to her well-edited collection of gorgeous shoes built to last years.
Happy birthday, Erin! You look fabulous.

It’s no secret that we’re seriously into Mad Men and counting down the minutes until the show returns on August 16. So in the spirit of Joan Holloway, this week’s Friday Etsy Find is a vintage ’60s era dress that will show off all your curves.
Whoever made this dress 50 years ago designed it with a feminine waist in mind. The measurements indicate it would fit a modern size large. Seller VeraVague reports it’s in good condition with some minor pilling — and that minty green color would look spectacular against pale skin.
