Exotic skins could be the most under-the-radar angle on the ethics of animal products in fashion. But the word on the street is that crocodile and snake skin are moving their way back toward center stage.
After nearly a decade by some estimates, serpent is making a comeback this spring. On major runways, in Vogue, and on Hollywood’s most famous fashion plates, snake skin is one of this season’s most popular trends. But have exotics made an equally warm return among the rest of us?
A survey of the fashion blogosphere suggests the answer is a resounding yes. Whether genuine, embossed, printed, or vintage, snake skin and crocodile are in full force this spring on the biggest personal style websites.
