Stylish Leather Goods on Etsy? You Better Believe It!

hoakon-helga-corrie-bag

Has the recession seriously impacted your handbag habit? Recessionistas, take note: You can score some really great purses on Etsy for a fraction of your Saks credit card balance.

And we don’t mean you have to settle for the shapeless sacks made from frumpy, flowery fabric that you’re imagining — we’re talking buttery-soft leather and quality hand-stitching.

Intrigued? Check out these sellers for more:

  • The newest creations from Hoakon/Helga are piquing our interest big time. The slouchy “Corrie” hobo (pictured above) is made with repurposed vintage leather and features convertible straps — wear it on your shoulder or across your body for extra security.
  • European designer Morelle uses some exquisite in her bag designs. We’re particularly drawn to the tiered design and ruched details of her “Truffle” tote. And that summery orange shade will still look right at home come fall.
  • We’re big fans of the oversize clutch trend (they hold EVERYTHING). Seller Patkas offers her take in luxurious chocolate brown vintage leather.
  • Jump on the metallics bandwagon with this smooth gold leather wristlet by Brooklyn designer Felice. So simple but pretty (and utilitarian!).
  • Prefer your bags with a lot of structure? Check out Studio One Designs‘ collection of laptop bags, roomy enough to fit files and a 17-inch notebook computer. We’re fond of the “Almeta” style in tan. Yum!

The best part, in case you didn’t notice? All of these are under $185!
