DIY Projects Inspired by Balmain’s SS09 Collection
Where has Balmain been all our lives? We know, we know — the French fashion house has been around since 1945, but it was only recently that Balmain’s punked-up styles have been seizing our attention.
Head designer Christophe Decarnin rocked the spring runways with his Bedazzled military jackets, stonewashed denim, studded skirts, and black suede gowns that didn’t look like anything anyone had seen since Versace in the ’80s. However, rather than looking dated, the collection was inspirational — especially to DIYers who would rather gouge out their eyes with knitting needles than drop $3,000 on a pair of jeans.
Outsapop Trashion posted favorites from the collection along with tips on how to recreate the styles in your sewing room. All you will need is a good bead-shop hookup for gold pyramid studs and the skills to do darts and micropleats and you’re on your way.
